Contact Your Attorney to Make Sure Your Divorce is Final, by: [email protected] (Utah Divorce Lawyer)
There is a great blog post by Mike Anderson over at LawyerDivorceUtah.com -- click here to read it.
I've seen similar situations.
You really need to speak with your attorney and get a copy of your decree of divorce when the judge signs it. Here in Utah, that means that the judge will put an electronic signature in the upper right hand corner of the first page with the court's seal.
Here is a sample of what the first page of a divorce decree in Utah looks like:
Can you see how it has the judge's signature on the top right for the first page? We've obviously blocked out our client's personal information and the case number, buy you see how it also on the bottom of the page has the date and time that the judge electronically signed the Decree of Divorce? Do you also see that it put page numbers in the lower right hand corner of the document?
This is how you can tell if your decree has been signed.
If it's been signed, then it will have these on it -- (except the old ones) -- prior to the time that the courts did electronic signatures, they were done manually. But all the district courts in Utah do electronic signatures now.
I hope this blog post has been helpful.
